The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), which runs the EU Reference Laboratory for alternatives to animal testing (EURL ECVAM), is organising a JRC Summer School on "Non-Animal Approaches in Science: Challenges and Future Directions", to be held from 21 to 24 May 2019 at the JRC site in Ispra (Italy).

On November 29-30th at Laboratorio Analisi e Ricerca di Fisiopatologia in Genoa the Fourth Theoretical-Pratical course "Give a meaning to substitutive methods to animal testing" will be held.

The course provides an update for training theoretical-practice of future researchers and those who do already research activity, to increase the use of alternative methods and the possibility of setting up new models scientifically valid, to replace those on animals.

The course is open for different professional profiles, for a total of 24 participants.

The 20th International Congresso on In vitro Toxicology (ESTIV) will be held in Berlin.

The general theme of the Congress is “New approach methodologies for in vitro toxicology applications”, with 8 thematic sessions, a number of special sessions and 2 complimentary workshops, followed by a hands-on workshop.

The deadline for the abstract submission is 12 June.

In order to promote the participation of youngsters, a total of 8 student travel bursaries are provided.
